This paper assumes a lexicological perspective which considers lexicon as a complex system not limited to the sum of individual words, where multi-word expressions take on a key role. Furthermore, the development of lexical competence, in constant evolution, is considered as a driving force for the development of interlanguage, taking on the role of a “supernode.” Against this backdrop, this paper focuses on the role of digital technologies in supporting the development of lexical competency. Following the model approach to the description of lexical properties conceived by Nation, this paper analyses the main elements that should define a L2 lexical literacy plan, starting with the macro-categories of form, meaning and use of words. For each of these, the paper further sets out and comments on specific teaching activities performed using digital technologies.

Abstract
