Spreading Italian among Young Students: Indications from Italiano2020 This contribution aims to profile young learners of the Italian language abroad, considering their main contexts of study (schools and universities, with a focus also on online learning environments), indicating the motivations that characterize them and the Italian language training offered to them. The study is based on data from Italiano2020, the most recent and relevant survey on the state of Italian language and culture abroad. Using interviews conducted with teachers working in schools and universities, an attempt has been made to delineate a comprehensive image of the audience of young learners abroad. This may be useful for the implementation of a language policy aiming at the dissemination of Italian language and culture specifically targeting this fundamental audience of learners.
