Abstract

This paper provides an analysis of all the occurrences of a form of HABEO plus a perfect participle in Cicero where the participle is not unquestionably predicative. The evidence suggests the hypothesis that the structure habeo (specifically, in the present tense) plus perfect participle shows the potential for reanalysis in argumentative-commentative text units.
