The study investigates the contribution of Beatrice Monti della Corte and the exhibition program she hosted at the Galleria dell’Ariete in Milan in spreading an international openness of taste among leading Italian collectors, linked to travel and engagement with other artistic cultures in the four decades preceding postcolonial exhibition thinking. Through a cross-analysis of archival sources and photos of Beatrice Monti’s travels, the investigation delves into the new geographies of the art market at a time when travel became an important tool for female emancipation, through which personal and professional networks could be built outside the traditional Eurocentric art system.

Abstract
The study investigates the contribution of Beatrice Monti della Corte and the exhibition program she hosted at the Galleria dell’Ariete in Milan in spreading an international openness of taste among leading Italian collectors, linked to travel and engagement with other artistic cultures in the four decades preceding postcolonial exhibition thinking. Through a cross-analysis of archival sources and photos of Beatrice Monti’s travels, the investigation delves into the new geographies of the art market at a time when travel became an important tool for female emancipation, through which personal and professional networks could be built outside the traditional Eurocentric art system.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
