Bembo’s aesthetic canon and the other Dante · Through a detailed reconstruction of the genesis of Bembo’s Prose, this paper demonstrates how a careful reading of De vulgari eloquentia favoured the definition of a new aesthetic canon that penalised the comic Dante and overshadowed the lyrical Dante, who was less censurable in terms of lexical selection. In this way, anti-Dante criticism provided the dialogical treatise with an innovative element compared to Fortunio’s Regole.

Abstract
Bembo’s aesthetic canon and the other Dante · Through a detailed reconstruction of the genesis of Bembo’s Prose, this paper demonstrates how a careful reading of De vulgari eloquentia favoured the definition of a new aesthetic canon that penalised the comic Dante and overshadowed the lyrical Dante, who was less censurable in terms of lexical selection. In this way, anti-Dante criticism provided the dialogical treatise with an innovative element compared to Fortunio’s Regole.File in questo prodotto:
