This paper retraces the events that led to the transfer of the Florentine municipality from Palagio di Parte Guelfa to Palazzo Spini-Feroni and then to Palazzo Vecchio, thanks to the extensive body of documents collected at the Archivio Storico del Comune di Firenze. The research also examines the restoration of these buildings between 1845 and 1889, focusing on the actors involved and the particular political and economic circumstances that gave rise to these undertakings.
