In the first part of the article, the itinerary of dictology will be briefly illustrated from its first attestations in the classical context up to the forms that it took in Latin and Romance production of the Middle Ages, of the Stilnovist poets and of Dante. In the Commedia, in fact, the figure is used with unprecedented versatility, also in relation to the synonymous component. In the second chapter we will try to show, albeit, briefly, the different binomial typologies and the corresponding expressive outcomes, with particular reference to the configurations of synonymous links, whose peculiarities frequently open up new semantic perspectives.
