Sulla coniazione del modo di dire “roba da chiodi"

The first written documentation of the Italian expression "roba da chiodi" dates back to the beginning of the 18th century and is unanimously attributed by the repertoires to the Tuscan doctor and polemicist Anton Francesco Bertini. In this contribution we put forward the hypothesis that Bertini was not only the occasional user of the oldest known example of the saying, but he was instead its actual creator.

La prima documentazione scritta dell’espressione italiana "roba da chiodi" risale agli inizi del Settecento e viene concordemente attribuita dai repertori al medico e polemista toscano Anton Francesco Bertini. Nel presente contributo si avanza l’ipotesi che Bertini non sia stato soltanto l’occasionale utilizzatore del più antico esempio conosciuto del modo di dire, bensì che ne sia il vero e proprio creatore
