This chapter (included in a book published in Germany, on Italian songwriters) considers Italian modern songs as texts with a strong potential for Italian language teaching. The Author discusses the reasons for the exploitation of songs as teaching materials - as historical and socio-cultural documents, as language models, as a source of pleasure. A series of examples are offered to show the presence of sociolinguistic varieties of contemporary Italian (due to space, society, situation and communicative channel), their suitability to develop linguistic competence (with focus on pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, etc.), communicative skills (especially oral and written comprehension) and text analysis (with focus on narrative, descriptive, argumentative song texts). The chapter is completed by an overview of three books, published between 1988 and 1993, that use songs for Italian language teaching purposes.
Questo capitolo (compreso in un volume sulle canzoni dei cantautori italiani pubblicato in Germania) presenta le canzoni italiane contemporanee come testi dotati di un forte potenziale per la didattica dell’italiano L2. L’Autrice affronta le ragioni a favore dello sfruttamento delle canzoni come materiale didattico, viste come documenti storici e socio-culturali, come modelli di lingua, come fonte di piacere. Una serie di esempi vengono forniti per mostrare la presenza delle varietà sociolinguistiche dell’italiano (legate allo spazio, alla società, al contesto e al canale comunicativo), la loro adeguatezza nello sviluppo della competenza linguistica (mettendo a fuoco la pronuncia, la grammatica, il vocabolario ecc.), le abilità comunicative (specialmente la comprensione orale e scritta) e l’analisi testuale (mettendo a fuoco i testi narrativi, descrittivi, argomentativi). Il capitolo è completato da una sintesi di tre libri pubblicati fra il 1988 e il 1993, che utilizzano le canzoni per l’insegnamento dell’italiano come L2.
