In the present work, I willtry to show the presence of Chekhov in modern Russian fiction and cinema,focusing on two fictional texts, E. Vodolazkin’s novel Aviator and R. Senchin’sshort story Mowing, as well as on the films Mirror by Andrey Tarkovsky andChekhov’s Motifs by Kira Muratova.The montage of Chekhov’s themes, the clarification of the writer’s nameor of one of his stories right from the incipit or in the epilogue, and therevitalization and interweaving of several texts (such as The Lady with the Dogand The Name-Day Part) provide an opportunity to comprehend once againthe modernity and versatility of this great author.
