This chapter presents an overview on the Archaeological and Numismatics Museum of Pietro Piccolomini Clementini. The Museum was initiated by the Count into the Villa at Santa Regina. In the early 1920s the widow of Pietro, Marianna Cinughi De Pazzi, moved the artifacts into the newly bought Palazzo del Capitano, close to Piazza del Duomo. Three unpublished postcards allow for a preliminary reading of the exhibition and especially on the criteria adopted by Giambattista Bellissima and Bartolomeo Nogara who acted as curators of this little sienese museum. In particular, this chapter presents the artifacts displayed on one of the postcards that come from the excavations at Pieve al Bozzone. On top of an earlier Etruscan necropolis, a Late Republican villa with thermal complexes was built and in use until the 4th century CE.

Abstract
On top of an earlier Etruscan necropolis, a Late Republican villa with thermal complexes was built and in use until the 4th century CE.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
