Taking into account current geopolitical dynamics and the increasing mobility of individuals across borders, scholars have started to see sociolinguistic phenomena and processes as being determined by mobility. This article investigates the translanguaging practices of migrant speakers in the city of Cesena, Italy. The term translanguaging moves away from the consideration of languages as separate entities and refers to the flexible and dynamic use of a speaker s full communicative repertoire, including both verbal and non- verbal features. This article will expand the current studies on language and mobility by focusing on the role of the body in everyday communicative practices in a place characterised by superdiversity. Through a qualitative analysis of a collection of audio-video recordings collected between September 2019 and February 2020 at Centro Interculturale MoviMenti (Cesena, Italy), this article examines how migrant speakers utilise their entire communicative repertoire by focusing not only on their linguistic practices but also on non-verbal elements such as gaze, gestures and posture.

Abstract
Through a qualitative analysis of a collection of audio-video recordings collected between September 2019 and February 2020 at Centro Interculturale MoviMenti (Cesena, Italy), this article examines how migrant speakers utilise their entire communicative repertoire by focusing not only on their linguistic practices but also on non-verbal elements such as gaze, gestures and posture.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
