This paper describes the role of recursion in the grammaticalisation and analogy phenomena underlying the genesis of some modern Sardinian verbal paradigms. My data show peculiar morphological features, including: (i) the formation of analogical past participles; (ii) new affixes generated by reanalysis; (iii) forms of the third plural person of the simple present of the verb ‘be’ with gender marks; (iv) the spreading of the third plural mark to the infinitive of ‘be’ whenever such infinitive is found in a future verbal periphrasis; (v) constructions with overcompound tenses opacified by restricted syntagmatic conditions. All these phenomena have been documented and carefully described through the field work carried out in the last decades.
