The international dimension of tertiary education has expanded considerably in recent years and is expected to increase further in the years to come. Language is an important factor in the choice of destination country. More than fifty per cent of programmes involving international students are provided by English-speaking countries. Those non-English-speaking countries that intend to limit the use of English as a language of instruction, must promote the development of linguistic competence of international students if they wish to offer academic programmes in their national language. Among the different components of this competence there is the ability to write an academic text, which represents a challenge for international students. As a complex skill, it represents a challenge for teaching, especially when it has to be carried out in a short period of time. The selection of relevant aspects to focus on and the adoption of effective teaching strategies can support the development of this competence, helping foreign students to conduct and successfully complete their university studies.

Abstract
The selection of relevant aspects to focus on and the adoption of effective teaching strategies can support the development of this competence, helping foreign students to conduct and successfully complete their university studies.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
