The monograph is devoted to the problems of the influence of hymnographic texts on the ornamental prose of Slavia Orthodoxa, borrowing of fragments from liturgical texts by ancient scribes, introduction of allusions and reminiscences to them into the lives and sermons of the ornamental style, assimilation of the syntactic structure of the sermon and individual fragments of the life to the syntax of liturgical works. The works of East and South Slavic authors who used the technique of hymnographic borrowing are considered, the emphasis is placed on the works of Cyril of Turov, Epiphanius the Wise, Gregory Tsamblak. It is analyzed which liturgical books and how often were used as literary sources and which stichera or canons were the most cited and why they turned out to be attractive to ancient Slavic writers.
